Uninstall any other Virtualisation Software

Firstly make sure you do not already have any virtualisation software installed on your Windows device. IF you have previously installed Virtual Box or added HyperV to your Windows device you need to uninstall or remove them completely before installing VMware Workstation.

Installing VMware Workstation

You will need to download the latest VMware Workstation executable, once you have that you just need to follow these steps:

1. Double click the file VMware-workstation-full-17.5.0-22583795.exe

2. Click Yes on the UAC prompt. Then the VMware installation prompt appears as below, click Next>

3. Accept the terms of the EULA, click Next>

4. On Custom Setup leave the default settings, click Next>

5. On User Experience Settings DESELECT both options, click Next>

6. On Shortcuts click Next>

7. On the Ready to Install, click Install

8. Installation is complete. Click Finish

9. Use ncpa.cpl to access the network adapter settings, notice the 2 new VMware adapters added to your device:

10. Create a shortcut to VMware Workstation Pro on your taskbar

11. When you start VMware Workstation it wants a license key:

12. Enter in your license key

13. Accept the UAC prompt, and the click Finish on the Welcome screen!

Congratulations you are now ready to setup your first VM
