So, if you are lucky enough to work for an Organisation that lets you use a 3rd party employee discount Portal (e.g. Perks at Work etc) and want to take advantage of cheaper cinema codes – well I have news for you. Not as cheap as you think with Odeon.
Let’s start with the direct price, this is the price you would pay without any discounts when booking online (and the same or similar if you book in cinema on the day). This for Birmingham Broadway, which is a Luxe cinema with All Recliner seats:
So, £20 for Adults; £15 for Children. Simples.
Now I head to my Employee discount portal and look to purchase some discounted voucher codes:
Great discount, £9.80 for Adults; £7.45 for Children. Over 50% saving, surely a no brainer.
Ok, I’ve purchased my voucher codes from my employee discount portal at the bargain price, now I just need to enter the codes at the Odeon website – perhaps I need to pay a booking fee of £1/2 per booking. Let’s see:
What is going on here? Each time I add a voucher code I’m being charged EXTRA because it’s a All Recliner seating cinema? Makes a mockery of the discounted employee portal pricing.
Price Tier | Direct | Employee Discount | Discount + Luxe Fee | Actual Saving |
Adult | £20 | £9.80 | £14.75 | £5.25 |
Child | £15 | £7.45 | £12.40 | £2.60 |
In 2018 you could buy an Adult voucher code for £5.25 and Child one for £4.75 and there was only a nominal online booking fee of £1 per person added! Even for a Luxe cinema, no surcharge.
Time have changed. So it seems have prices. A lot.
